Rev Andrew Newton MBA, BA

The CSMC board certified Rev Andrew Newton as an Appointed Designated Minister, with a ministry focus on pastoral care. He is a smart, fluently bilingual (English/French) minister in downtown Toronto with an attention to detail, strong family values and the drive to help others and the planet.

Ministry 

Rev Andrew conducts marriage ceremonies within his community and is welcoming to all couples. He also has an interest in Baptisms and Funeral ceremonies which he plans to conduct at a later date.

He mentors students through the Ivey Centre for Building Sustainable Value to help future business leaders create a low-carbon and sustainable economy in Canada and around the world. 

Rev Andrew is active in global development. He worked as a volunteer in Malawi developing radio content for local farmers on business, accounting and agricultural practices with a goal of helping them achieve food and income security. He also developed entrepreneurship programming to be used for coaching in India and he managed fundraising events to support the same program. 

He supports those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. For example, coordinated ally training for faculty, staff and students while at Western and was president of the Ivey MBA Pride Club. 

Rev Andrew provides ministry through sport. He has been a volunteer with Special Olympics Oakville as a running coach, training with athletes once a week and supporting then at tryouts and competitions. As well, he worked through the Nike+ Run Club in Toronto to inspire, motivate and encourage local runners to reach their goals through weekly runs and workouts. 

A Personal Side to Rev Andrew 

Rev Andrew has been recognized throughout his education with numerous awards for his community leadership.  

He is an avid runner, enjoying its therapeutic benefits and in 2016 was selected by Nike as one of four runners exemplifying outstanding community spirit and involvement in Toronto’s running scene. 

Rev Andrew has a passion for gardening/plants and music and plays tenor saxaphone.
