The Clergy Support Memorial Church Board was pleased to certify the Rev. Brenda Foster to the office of Appointed Designated Minister- Teaching Ministry, in July of 2023. Brenda’s language skills are exemplary and further enhance her ability to connect with diverse groups and provide inclusive, empathetic support in her ministry.

Pastoral Care
Brenda has dedicated her life to supporting and nurturing her community. As a long-time sports coach for teenagers, she has helped shape the lives of many young individuals through volleyball, soccer, and basketball. Brenda has also organized and performed at numerous musical events, both for her local church and high school, fostering a sense of community and joy through music. Additionally, she coordinated partnerships between high school students and residents at the local Longterm Care Home, creating meaningful connections and enriching the lives of both students and residents.
Personal Growth
Brenda is continuously seeking personal growth and self-improvement. She sets annual goals for herself, such as learning new languages and reading a variety of books. Rev. Brenda speaks English, French, Spanish, is currently studying Arabic and is comfortable with ASL. She finds joy in learning new skills. Her recent reads include “A Return to Wholeness” by Dr. Gabor Maté, “Rising Strong” by Brené Brown, and “Embers” by Richard Wagamese. These works have provided her with insights on healing, transformation, and introspection.
Spiritual Dimension
Raised in a religious family, Brenda has always had a strong spiritual foundation. Her father was a Canon in the Anglican Church. Her maternal grandfather and uncle were bishops and her cousin is currently a Bishop. Despite experiencing a crisis of faith during a difficult period in her life, Brenda continued to explore her beliefs and maintained a strong connection to spirituality. She believes in the core principle of treating others as you would like to be treated and finds peace in prayer and meditation. Brenda’s travels have also broadened her spiritual perspective, allowing her to appreciate the common values shared by various world religions.
Hobbies
Brenda enjoys a variety of hobbies that keep her active and engaged. She loves to walk, play tennis, and practice yoga and meditation. Music is a significant part of her life; she plays piano and guitar and loves to sing. Brenda also has a passion for travel, believing that it fosters tolerance and understanding. She is currently helping adults in her community and surrounding area explore their dream trips to Europe and Northern Africa. Reading is another of her favorite pastimes, as it allows her to continuously learn and grow.
Giving Back
Brenda is a well-known member and volunteer for various local groups, including the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E.), Lions’ Club, Rotary, and The Wiarton Legion. She often uses her musical and dramatic talents to perform at fundraisers and community events.
